FEED
ENZYMES
Feed is majorly manufactured for
pigs, poultry and cattle. Increased consumption of meat
food is leading to increased production of poultry (chiken and eggs)
and pigs. The consumption of enzymes into the feed industry is
increasing at faster pace to support increased and quality
production.
Monogastric animals like pigs and poultry are the most interesting
types of animal when it comes to adding enzymes to feed. The
digestive tract of these animals has to break down the feed into a
form that the animals can absorb and utilize to convert into energy.
Many feed ingredients are not fully digested by livestock due to
insufficient secretion of digestive enzymes into digestive tract.
Enzymes hydrolyse complex molecules such as non-starch
polysaccharides (NSP) and phytates, into smaller units, thus
enabling the animal to utilize the feed optimally. Adding external
enzymes to feed to catalyse the digestion process, the digestibility
can be improved.
The main benefits of supplementing feed with enzymes are faster
growth of the animal; better feed utilization (feed conversion
ratio); more uniform production; better health status. The targeted
use of enzymes can improve weight gain in animals and feed
conversion rate and allow more flexibility in diet composition. This
means higher efficiency for the agriculturists.
Enzymes from Lumis are available to degrade substances such as
cellulose, hemicellulose, xylans, strach, protein, polysaccharide
etc. Individual enzymes like LumiFeed® Phytase, Cellulase, Xylanase,
Protease, Amylase, Pectinase, Lipase etc., are available from Lumis.
Lumis also offers cocktail enzymes like Luminase® for use on
broilers, layers and grand parents
